What is a FibroScan?
FibroScan is a quick, painless and non-invasive test used to assess liver health. It provides important information about liver stiffness and the amount of fat stored in the liver.
Unlike a traditional ultrasound that mainly produces images, FibroScan uses Liver Stiffness Measurement (LSM) to assess fibrosis and Controlled Attenuation Parameter (CAP) to estimate the amount of fat in the liver.
No incision or needle is required.
You may only feel a slight tapping sensation.
The examination is usually completed in less than 10 minutes.
Measurements are available immediately after the test.

How a FibroScan is Performed
The test is simple and comfortable. Proper preparation and positioning help ensure reliable measurements.
Preparation
Fast for at least 3 hours before the test. Water may be taken during the fasting period.
Positioning
You will lie on your back with your right arm behind your head so the liver area can be examined easily.
Measurement
A small probe is placed on the skin over the liver area. You may feel a slight tapping or vibration from the probe.
Results
